DEVELOP’s new blog post Developing careers through transversal competencies has been posted on EPALE, the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe. EPALE’s theme of the month was “Assessing adults’ skills”. Crucial to this theme is the assessment of soft skills in contemporary and future society. DEVELOP’s innovative approach and techniques to measuring such skills are presented in the blog post.

In a fast-evolving society, the nature and requirements of workplaces are changing. For a successful career and new work opportunities, transversal competencies such as communication and leadership are crucial. In our DEVELOP blog post we discuss the nature of future workplaces and how to develop and assess these all-important but at times highly subjective skills. We present and describe DEVELOP’s online environment which is designed to both measure and develop these skills. It integrates techniques such as game-based methods, social learning and AI planning, with the aim to assist users to further develop their careers.

EPALE is an open membership community for teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, policy makers and anyone else with a professional role in adult learning across Europe. EPALE is an initiative of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission.
